Loake classics are worn in a new British film called SoulBoy. The film is based on the lives of young people growing up during the 1970’s Northern Soul music movement and has been filmed on location in Stoke-on-Trent.
Loake was approached to provide authentic footwear for the leading cast and dancers with its Brighton loafer and Royal brogue, both original patterns from the early 70s that have been re-released.
Northern Soul’s trademark dancing included wild spins and floordrops. These styles were the footwear of choice - their Storm welted leather soles enabled the wearer, in the words of the film, to ‘glide as if you are on ice’. The film features a fantastic soundtrack, released by Universal.
Loake has become the official formal footwear supplier to Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
YCCC is the most successful first class county in English cricket and currently top of the championship table. The Club remains unbeaten so far this season.
During its 150 year history, the Club has been home to many cricket legends, including Lord Hawke, Sir Len Hutton, Bob Appleyard, Ray Illingworth and Geoffrey Boycott. More recently, cricket visionaries such as Michael Vaughan and Darren Gough have represented the White Rose County.
The players will be wearing their Loake shoes at all home matches and club events during the 2010 season.
